Unloading

The kiln was unloaded today.  An OK firing, nothing stellar, a bit of bloating and one weird crack.  Photos to follow.

Firing

A perfect day for the firing - mostly overcast, bits of sun, not too cold.

Loading

Here's the first stack of four.  Trying to balance the best pack for flame path travel and getting the most pieces in is always a challenge.  It's been just above freezing so the little space heater has been in the kiln to keep the wadding (and my hands) from freezing.  Firing date is November 9th.  This is the last chance firing for Christmas stock.  Fingers crossed for a good one.

Glazing

Getting ready for the firing next week,  glazing and wadding like mad.  All looking very soft and pastel-y for now.

Ash Glaze

And now some brown ash glazed pots.  Each new batch of ash glaze varies somewhat from the last depending on what wood made it to the burn pile.  Often the glaze is more matte and yellow/brown but this one came out quite dark.

Got The Blues

From the last firing; a few more blue pots.

New Pots 2019

These just came out of the last firing.  I stacked them up and thought they looked great.  So here they are.

All ash glazes except the top one.
