Some pots

I'm working hard to get a firing together for the end of the first week of April.  Big bisque yesterday and 3 more days to make pots for the front of the kiln.  Then all the grinding of shelves and posts and cleaning out the kiln.  I'll start glazing on Thursday and alternate that with the heavier work of grinding to save my hands a bit.  The trials and tribulations of the ageing potter!
So here are a couple of pots from the last firing.

Temmoku jug on plain white ground.

Trying a new background (my old damper) but maybe too busy and distracting.

Spring cleaning

A few days ago we felt the sap rising,  bulbs were poking above the ground, and we were out there without our coats on!  Spring is surely here.  So we did a big clean up in the kiln shed, moving bricks from the old kiln up to the garden where they're going to be a patio (I'm never building another kiln), boxing the insulation brick and storing them, leaving the space clear for stacking the mountain of wood that Wayne has been gathering.  The next day we had 4 inches of snow.  Then it rained all day, the snow disappeared and things were looking promising again.  Today it's snowing.

The Sign is Back!

The sign is back and I'm so grateful to the highways maintenance crew for getting me  a new one.  We even found the small one that we'd paid for ourselves that guides people coming from the other direction.  And just in time as the first trickle of tourists usually starts over the Easter long weekend.  Over the last year I've gradually withdrawn from all the shops and galleries I was selling in, being happy to be a local potter, which makes me much more dependent on these signs now.

As far as the mailboxes go, Canada Post has offered a $2,000 reward for information regarding the damage to the boxes and theft from them.

Now I just need to get very much busier and fill that kiln!

A Few More Photos

Just a few further attempts with the camera.  These are from the December 14th firing.  Can't get the white balance right.  Will consult the experts.
