We're getting ready for the next firing which should be on October 3rd. Doing some last minute throwing, bisqueing, and getting ready to glaze. The wood is cut and stacked, thanks to Wayne, the saint, and his friend the log splitter. Couldn't do it without him.

I hope this firing is wildly successful! It's a little cooler now so you won't need to soak in the horse trough this time. :)

We only have a little more than 2 firings worth of kiln wood but planning on getting several more in soon. The big stack of wood behind the log splitter is the winters supply for the house. We've actually had the woodstove on a couple of times already on chilly mornings.
ReplyDeleteWe use just under a cord per firing. When I salt glaze the back of the kiln it's probably closer to a cord because the firing is then 2 -3 hours longer.
